Expresso Espresso - Progress Update 2 - UI and Furniture!

Expresso Espresso - Progress Update 2 - UI and Furniture!

Hello fellow baristas!

Welcome back to another weekly devlog. How has your past week been? I recently moved into a new dorm for college, so I wasn't able to do a whole lot this week. Here's what we'll break down:

  • New UI Inputs
  • Basic Furniture / Roastery

New UI

This week I managed to implement a basic UI system, including the main management screen, the building sub-menu, and the furniture sub-menu. They aren't really textured at the moment, I'll work on that sometime next week.

As you can see, it's a really basic UI system inspired by RimWorld.

Furniture / Roastery

Along with the UI system, I got started on the Furniture system. I studied a lot on how RimWorld handles their tiles, they start off with a default terrain tile then adds almost a second layer on top of that tile. I did something similar, spawning the counter tile on top of the tile you click.

Here's what the Roastery looks like at the moment:

As you can see, it's one of those small roasters that you put in the back of your cafe area. There'll be different roasters all with different functionalities.

That's it for now! Be sure to leave a follow to keep up with the progress of the game and to be notified when we release a playable demo!
