What would you name your cafe?


Good evening (CST) baristas! 

I have an exciting development update for Expresso Espresso! It was a busy past week, I got around to implementing the cafe creation screen, added some economy features, some more machines, and I finally designed how the coffee creation system would work via code.

Cafe Creation

This week I added in some very basic cafe creation screens, where you can choose your cafe name, type, and the loan amount you'll start with. 


There's no background at the moment, but I plan on doing some more pixel art for cafe scenes. Corporate and Community cafe types both have different gameplay styles. Corporate is expected to pay their employees more, but they have fewer import costs. The opposite is for community-driven cafes.


This is essentially the difficulty setting. More money means you can build your cafe faster and hire better employees, but it also means you have to pay back more once the in-game time reaches 5 years. You might have noticed the tips and "Did You Know?" at the bottom of the screens. I figured it would be a fun, small thing streamers or YouTubers could comment on while creating their cafe.

More Machines!

I got around to implementing placement for the grinder and brewer. Once I get the espresso machine and register, that'll be it for pixel art until I add upgrades for them!


The UI is still a bit basic, within this week they'll be changed and updated to fit the style of the game. 

Economy

This is a good time to talk about the economy. On the top left, you can see your Balance, Profit, Sales, and Expenses. The profit, sales, and expenses will change every month and will either subtract or add from the initial balance depending on your profit.
